A panel is a named, ordered collection of lab results that a doctor fills in, such as CBC. Each row is one panel, identified by your own id, with the ids of its results in the order they are shown. Use type=lab_panel with the API, or pick Panels in the console. A panel is not what a doctor orders. Complete Blood Count can exist as an investigation (ordered) and as a panel (filled in). These are separate records with their own ids.
Mandatory columns: panel_id, name and member_result_ids. Every other column is optional; leave the cell empty if you don’t have the value.

Columns

Members

Every id in member_result_ids must be a result_id already stored in the same workspace and knowledge base. So upload your results first, then your panels. There is no combined upload.
  • A panel needs at least one member.
  • An id can’t appear twice in the same panel.
  • An inactive result can be a member.
  • A member that is not a result in your catalog rejects the upload. Nothing is written, and the error names the row and the id.
  • If a member’s result is deactivated or deleted later, it stays on the panel and is skipped when the panel is served.
The errors you can get are:

Example file

This panel uses the three results from the lab results example, so upload those first.
lab-panels.csv
The smallest valid file has just the mandatory columns:
minimal.csv

Example JSON

The same record sent to Create or update records. In JSON, multi-value fields are lists.
Panel search can only be on while result search is on for the same knowledge base, because a panel is served from its results. Turn on result search first, then panel search. To turn them off, turn panel search off first. Turn partner search on or off refuses a request that breaks this order. It returns a 400 with the message and code below, and nothing changes. In the console the switch is disabled in the same cases.

Common mistakes

  • Uploading panels before results. Every member must already be a stored result, so upload results first.
  • Putting an investigation id in member_result_ids. Members are result_id values only, never investigation or panel ids.
  • Listing a result twice. Each id can appear once in a panel.
  • Members in the wrong order. The panel shows its results in the order you list them.
  • An empty member_result_ids. A panel needs at least one member.
