# ABDM-enabled HIS

> Build a hospital system that registers patients with ABHA, links their visits, shares records with consent and files insurance claims.

This recipe takes a hospital system from the front desk to the insurance claim on India's health stack. It uses [ABDM Connect](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/about.md) and [NHCX](https://developer.eka.care/docs/nhcx/getting-started.md). Start with the [ABDM Connect quickstart](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/quickstart.md) to get your keys and your first call working.

**1. Register the patient with ABHA**

Create or verify the patient's ABHA at registration with [Milestone 1](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/flows/m1). At a busy counter, register patients from a QR code with [scan and share](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/scan-and-share/getting-started.md).

**2. Link each visit to the ABHA**

After the visit, link its records to the patient's ABHA as a provider with [Milestone 2](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/flows/m2). The [register and link journey](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/journeys/hip-register-patient-and-link-visit.md) shows the whole flow.

**3. Fetch records from other hospitals with consent**

**4. Register your doctors and facility**

Enrol your doctors and your facility in the national registries with [Milestone 4](https://developer.eka.care/docs/hie-cm/flows/m4).

**5. File the insurance claim**

Check eligibility, request pre-authorisation and submit the claim through [NHCX](https://developer.eka.care/docs/nhcx/getting-started.md).
